SIOUX CITY -- Don't be surprised if you see a coffee-flavored Twin Bing coming to a candy counter near you.

At least that is the dream of Miranda Pablo-Aguilar, a Bryant Elementary School fifth grader, whose clay model of a Bing was on display at a special Twin Bing art show, held at the 3040 Jones St. school, Monday morning.

According to art teacher Jeremy Dumkrieger, students were asked to create a model Bing, draw a picture of it, and propose a new flavor for the iconic candy that celebrated its centennial in 2023.

Invited to have a look at all of the student's artwork was Marty Palmer, CEO and President of the Sioux City-based Palmer Candy Company, the manufacturer of the Twin Bing.

For the uninitiated, the Twin Bing consists of two round, chewy, cherry-flavored nougats, with a mixture of chopped peanuts and chocolate.

While Palmer said Bings may also come in limited edition flavors like pineapple, marshmallow and blue raspberry, Bryant students had more experimental proposals in mind.

"I saw someone suggested a pickle-flavored Bing," Palmer noted. "I don't know how well that would go over."

Other students recommended things that would be both sweet and spicy.

How about a chocolate Bing with ghost pepper nougat?

"OK, that one actually scared me," Palmer said with a chuckle.

Perhaps, the most unusual new Twin Bing flavor came from fifth grader Draven Carson.

"I like Bings and I like fried chicken," he said. "It might be interesting to combine the two flavors."

"It might be good or it might be eww," Draven added. "You'll never know unless you try."
