We ended our fine arts week with a Bryant color wheel photo. Classrooms were lined up based on the color wheel. We're not quite a circle but we did our best! One is a serious picture and one is supposed to be a funny picture.
Thank you to Mr. D and Mrs. Cole for a very fun week! The hats that some of our students are wearing are for the hundredth day of school.

Color Wheel Friday: Jan 31
“The color wheel is a circle that shows all the colors and how they go together.
For Color Wheel Day, each grade will be assigned a color. When we all get together we will look like one giant bear color wheel.”
Kindergarten is Red
1st Grade - Orange
2nd Grade - Yellow
3rd Grade - Green
4th Grade - Blue
5th Grade - Violet (Purple)
Preschool - Rainbow!

Pattern Thursday: Jan 30
Wear clothes with fun patterns like stripes, polka dots, or anything wild.
"On Pattern Day, we’re going to have fun wearing clothes with all kinds of patterns! Patterns are designs that repeat, like stripes, polka dots, zigzags, or even flowers. You can wear your favorite patterned clothes or mix and match patterns to make your outfit super creative. Let’s make the school look like a big, fun art project!"

Wild Hair or Wacky Hat Wednesday: Jan 29
Wear a fun or crazy hat – or turn that hair into a work of art.
On Wednesday, it’s time to get silly with your hair or your hat! You can style your hair in a crazy way—spikes, twists, or even add some fun colors! Or, if you’d rather, wear the wackiest hat you can find. It could be super big, funny, or even homemade. The wilder and sillier, the better! Let’s have fun making our heads the stars of the day!

Due to the weather, Sioux City Community Schools will have a two-hour late start tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21. School will begin at the following times: Elementary School - 10:30 am; Middle School - 9:45 am; and High School - 9:55 am. Please note that tomorrow is a "B" Day for our middle and high schools.

Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Month, Mr. Simcoe. Mr. Simcoe puts in extra effort to build relationships with students both in his classroom and throughout the building. You will often find him at recess playing sports with the students. Mr. Simcoe takes time to work through different situations with students who might be feeling big emotions and help them learn how to better handle those feelings. He truly cares about his students and that is evident through his daily actions.

Artist of the Week
Last week's Bryant Bear Artist of the Week was chosen for their dedication and hard work in the classroom. The Artist of the Week consistently listens carefully to instructions and puts forth their best effort in every project. Whether they’re faced with a challenge or trying something new, they always keep trying and never give up. Their positive attitude and perseverance make them a wonderful example for others to follow. #SCCSD families, your student's attendance in school matters! Chronic absenteeism is not just a matter of missed days; it's a barrier to success. If your child will not be in school, it's incredibly important to call your child’s school to report the reason for an absence. This information will be used to help your child's school determine the level of support your student needs to succeed.
We encourage families to familiarize themselves with the new chronic absenteeism laws and policies in place. Students are considered absent when they are not in school, including time missed for general illnesses, doctor’s appointments, club sports, and family vacations. We want your child to be successful. While rare exceptions can occur, missing nine or more days in a semester is atypical. Absences for participation in school-sanctioned events do not count toward chronic absenteeism. For questions related to absences, please contact your child's school.
We're committed to being a partner in your child's success and celebrate them for being in class, on time, every day!
